At the turn of the century, the eldest son of Queen Victoria became King. Edward VII was known for his love of luxury and earned a reputation as a royal playboy. The emergence of extravagant soirées and balls fuelled a rise in fashion competition among the upper class, spearheaded by Edward VII. More intricate and delicate designs resulted from a move back to handmade jewellery, with motifs such as bows and garlands becoming more widely seen. Many of these beautiful designs continue to stand the test of time and can be found in our shop today.
