Rolex Milgauss Steel Automatic Watch
A Rolex Milgauss from 2018 designed to withstand extremely strong magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss. It was, in Rolex's words, 'designed to meet the demands of the scientific community', and its unique aesthetic reflects this. Its smooth steel bezel leads up towards sapphire crystal glass, with a green outer ring running around the inside of the dial made of ferromagnetic alloys which shield the movement against magnetic interference. From this, it is no surprise that the Milgauss became known as the watch worn by scientists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. Upon the dial, an orange seconds track circles the blue sunburst dial, with steel baton numerals and batons hands, both with luminescent strips for use in the dark. A bolt of orange lightning shoots from the centre forming a seconds hand, enhancing the funky and colourful aesthetic of this unique watch. A steel oyster bracelet finishes this timepiece with a folding clasp.
